Rules and Regulations

Eligibility

* The 4th Arnold Rosé International Violin Competition & Festival is open to violinists of all nationalities.

* Participants will be divided into the following age categories according to their age on the submission deadline, November 1, 2026
 

Category A: 17 years and older
Category B: Up to 16 years old

Competition Rounds

First Round: Video submission with a maximum playing time of 20 minutes.

Final Round: Live performance in Vienna with a maximum playing time of 30 minutes. The Final Round is planned for November 21, 2026.
 

First Round Programme

The programme must include:

• One classical work (original composition)

• One virtuoso work from another musical period

The complete programme must not exceed 20 minutes of actual playing time.
 

Final Round Programme

The programme must include:

• One composition from the Romantic period

• One virtuoso work

• One contemporary composition, which will be provided to the finalists upon qualification for the Final Round

The complete Final Round programme must not exceed 30 minutes of actual playing time.
 

Video Recording Requirements

* The video must be recorded specifically for the 4th Arnold Rosé International Violin Competition & Festival 2026 and must be intended exclusively for this competition.

* The complete programme must be performed in one continuous recording, as it would be in a live competition. The recording must not be cut or edited between individual pieces.

* The recording must be made with one fixed camera and must clearly show the musician's face and hands.

* Cameras and mobile phone cameras are permitted. The video must be recorded in landscape format.

* The image quality must be sufficient to clearly identify and observe the musician throughout the performance. The musician must be clearly visible, without backlighting or obstructions.

* The accompanying pianist or other accompanying person does not necessarily have to be visible.
 

Audio Requirements

*A mobile phone microphone is sufficient.

*The audio recording must remain completely unedited. No reverb, effects, sound enhancement or other audio processing may be added.

*The video and audio recording must not be cut, except for a clean beginning and ending.

*If a change of setup or instrument is necessary between pieces, the camera and microphone must continue recording throughout the entire process. The time required for setup or instrument changes will not count towards the maximum playing time.

*All recording requirements must be followed strictly. No exceptions will be permitted.
 

Video Submission

* All competition videos must be uploaded exclusively to YouTube.

* The video must be uploaded as “Unlisted” and must not be publicly accessible.

* The YouTube video title must be:

  Arnold Rosé Competition 2026 – Category / First Name / Last Name

* No information needs to be entered in the YouTube description.

* The repertoire must be entered in the official application form on the competition website.

* The video link should preferably be provided directly during registration. If necessary, the video link may also be submitted by email until the applicable registration deadline.

* When making the payment, participants must clearly indicate their full name and the competition/instrument category.

* Once the application fee has been paid, it is non-refundable under any circumstances.
By completing the payment and registration, participants agree to all terms and conditions of the competition.

Jury and Results

In each category, the jury may award:

• 1st Prize

• 2nd Prize

• 3rd Prize

• Honorable Mentions

* Awards are determined according to the participants' scores and the jury's evaluation.

* The decision of the jury is final.

* The official results will be announced on November 8, 2026, on the official competition website and through the competition's social media channels.

* Due to possible delays in the evaluation process, the organizers reserve the right to change the announced date of the results if necessary.
 

Publication and Media Rights

* By registering for the competition, participants agree that the photo, audio and video recordings submitted or produced in connection with the competition may be used by the organizers for documentation, promotion, public relations and advertising purposes on the official competition website and social media channels.

* The organizers reserve the right to edit, crop or otherwise adapt photographs and recordings for publication and promotional purposes.

* All winners will be presented on the official competition website and on the competition's social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.
 

Certificates

* All award-winning participants will receive a certificate of achievement by email.

* Printed certificates can also be requested and sent by post. Postage, printing, packaging and processing costs may apply.

* Participants who do not receive an award may request a certificate of participation by email. An electronic certificate is available for €30.

* Teachers and accompanying persons may also request certificates. The electronic certificate fee is €30.

Final Round and Concert

* The Final Round is planned to take place live in Vienna on November 21, 2026.

 * The Final Round will be accompanied by professional photo, audio and video recordings.

* The 1st Prize winner in each category will have the opportunity to perform live at Mozarthaus Vienna – Concert Hall.

* The concert is planned for  November 22, 2026.

Acceptance of the Regulations

By submitting an application and paying the participation fee, participants confirm that they have read, understood and accepted all Rules and Regulations of the 4th Arnold Rosé International Violin Competition & Festival 2026.

The registration fee is  75 € for solo

*Category A: 17 years and older (as of the registration deadline in 2026). For string quartets, the average age applies.

*Category B: Up to 16 years old (as of the registration deadline in 2026). For string quartets, the average age applies.
