The Vienna Cultural Association Culture Meeting Point Vienna (CMP Vienna), in collaboration with Mozarthaus Vienna, is proud to present the International Ignaz Anton Schuppanzigh Competition 2026. The competition is dedicated to the legacy of Ignaz Anton Schuppanzigh, one of the most influential violinists and chamber musicians of the early 19th century. As the leader of the renowned Schuppanzigh Quartet, he played a decisive role in the premiere and interpretation of many of Ludwig van Beethoven’s string quartets and helped establish chamber music and the string quartet as major concert art forms. Beyond the awarding of prizes, the primary aim of the competition is educational and artistic development. It seeks to provide young musicians and emerging artists with an international platform to evaluate their skills, gain valuable performance experience, and present their musical talents to both audience and jury. Founded in 1995, CultureMeetingPoint Vienna warmly welcomes participants from around the world to Vienna, a city deeply rooted in musical tradition, enriched by a vibrant cultural present, and widely regarded as one of the world’s great capitals of music.
Our competitions are designed to be accessible to candidates from all corners of the globe. Hosting live performances ensures that participants reach a wide audience, with videos of all finalists documented on our website and award winners announced on our social media platforms.
